JOB SUMMARY

The Production Assistant II will learn all aspects of production for Mission Produce. They will work side-by-side with Production Supervisor, and Production Coordinators to ensure production requirements are met to achieve Mission’s goals.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist the Production Supervisor and Coordinators.
  • Assist in bagging and machine operations.
  • Assist in shipping and receiving operations by loading, unloading, and racking fruit.
  • Assign and review orders to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Communicate with Forklift Drivers to coordinate inbound and outbound loads.
  • Answer shipping phone lines and provide assistance to drivers as needed.
  • Check drivers in upon arrival and out upon completion of shipments.
  • Perform D365 shipping functions, including entering driver and CTPAT information accurately.
  • Understand and adhere to Mission’s ripening process.
  • Accurately complete ripe room checks daily and mark all required details clearly on inspection logs.
  • Understand inventory levels and FIFO procedures.
  • Effectively communicate order status and changes to and from QA, Shipping, Sales, and Inventory teams (both at the facility and the corporate office).
  • Operate a forklift to stage fruit for QA inspection, load ripening rooms, manage dry goods inventory, and complete other assigned duties.
  • All other duties as assigned.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills among the team and other departments.
  • Forklift experience.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Ability and willingness to follow standard operating procedures.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and general computer skills.
  • Ability to prioritize a variety of tasks in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines.
  • Must have the ability to be flexible, including holidays and weekends.
  • Display a positive attitude towards tasks.

 

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Ability to work in a temperature-controlled environment from 34°F – 42°F. 
  • Ability to lift or move 25-50 pounds.
  • Ability to climb ladders.
  • Safely work near moving mechanical parts and equipment.
  • Ability and willingness to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch/bend as needed to perform essential tasks.
