JOB SUMMARY

The Category Analyst serves as a category expert supporting sales growth strategies by providing thoughtful analytics and shopper insights. This position will act as an interface between sales, marketing, and business development in telling data-driven stories to drive category growth. This individual is responsible for delivering concise recommendations to optimize distribution, shelving, price, and promotional mix for our customers.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Serve as an active member of the Category Management Team to ensure Mission Produce:
  • Utilizes the newest/best-in-class category management insights.
  • Helps drive customers’ overall category strategy.
  • Stay current on industry developments and trends.
  • Maintains position as the avocado and mango thought leader and category expert.
  • Utilize internal and external shipment data, Circana and Numerator data, and other industry sources to identify opportunities.
  • Analyzes and assesses category/brand performance to develop sales and marketing plans.
  • Provides insights and recommendations to support distribution, merchandising, price, and promotions by analyzing point-of-sale and panel data.
  • Conducts market-specific assessments of competitors, vendors, and customers to support decisions and influence management.
  • Keeps a pulse on macroeconomic and consumer trends.
  • Create reports to include monthly region, market, and customer trend reporting in order to drive key business strategy and provide additional value to customers.
  • Owns the sales presentation deck and supports various departments with their presentation needs.
  • Proactively assist team members, managers, and employees on other projects as needed.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, economics, statistics, or related field.
  • One to three years of category management, data analysis or related experience. Produce experience a plus.
  • Experience working with Circana syndicated and Numerator panel data.
  • Excellent quantitative and analytical skills.
  • Detail oriented with the ability to focus on the assigned project or task and consistently deliver high quality results.
  • Demonstrated experience leading projects and track record of being proactive in identifying root cause.
  • Advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills (vlookup, pivot tables).
  • Professional oral, written and presentation communication skills.
  • Flexible and collaborative with a proven ability to deliver business results in a timely manner without compromising quality

Pay range: $70k - $80k
