, ,JOB SUMMARY
The Yard Goat Driver is responsible for facility movements of containers and trailers to their position in a safe manner. In addition, Forklift operation will be also required on the shipping/receiving docks, coolers, and dry goods storage area. Responsible for the safe loading and unloading of trucks and the movement of fruit and supplies throughout the plant.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
§ Daily Pre-trip - inspect tractor/forklift.
§ Complete and turn in the vehicle condition report.
§ Fuel tractor as needed.
§ Assure cargo is properly loaded and secured before movement.
§ Move equipment in and around the yard for loading and unloading purposes.
§ Plug and unplug refrigerated containers and ensure proper refrigerator temperature settings as equipment arrives at the facility and before daily dispatch.
§ Notify management of the need for repairs or possible problems that arise during the shift.
§ Daily inspections of incoming/outgoing equipment.
§ Ensuring proper/safe operation of all tractors/trailers/trucks.
§ Daily Inventory of containers in the yard.
§ Maintain daily driver logs.
§ Complete trailer sanitation and maintain clean tractor.
§ Safely operate a forklift while efficiently completing shipping directives.
§ Stage fruit from coolers for orders and transfers.
§ Follow daily maintenance programs for forklift and Scanner batteries.
§ Load and unload pallets for shipments.
§ Communicate issues to leads and supervisors.
§ Other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS
§ Class A Driver’s License.
§ Ability to operate a forklift.
§ Ability to work with a tablet/RF gun.
§ Experience with general computer applications.
§ Able to work in a fast-paced, high-stress environment.
§ Ability to maintain spatial awareness around operating forklifts with up to 2,200 lbs loads.
§ Ability to communicate with supervisors and coworkers in a team environment.
§ Able to read markings on boxes of products.
§ Able to work according to food facility regulations.
§ Able to accommodate flexible work schedules according to business needs.
WORKING CONDITIONS
§ Fast-paced cold and wet environment.
§ Food facility requires food-safe behavior.
§ Work in cold conditions from 38°F to 50°F.
§ Lifting, pushing, pulling, and grasping while standing and kneeling.
§ Able to perform the essential function of the job with or without accommodation.
