JOB SUMMARY
Manage food safety within the ranch & packing supply chain. Provide long-term support and guidance on regulatory issues and requirements. Ensure ranch & packing center standards are compliant according to local, state, and federal standards.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
§ Maintain Food Safety program for Growers and National Facilities.
§ For Facilities:
o Conduct and Maintain Food Safety Prerequisite Programs
o Conduct daily internal assessments
o Identify opportunities to minimize food safety risk through prevention-based programs
o Conduct microbiological testing
o Assist in the collection/maintaining of preparatory documentation for audits and inspections
o Overseeing food safety audits & organic inspections
o Create, and conduct food safety trainings
o Organize and maintain all records pertaining to Food Safety Programs for future audits and inspections
§ For Growers (California Based Representative Only):
o Maintain a uniform program that follows GFSI audit schemes and/or FSMA compliance
o Consult with growers to adhere to regulatory and GFSI standards
o Conduct internal assessments, review or advise on application records, facilitate water sampling, facilitate employee training, train/audit harvest crews, etc.
o Schedule and consult on audits
o Host grower training workshops
o Monitor organic certifications
o Organize certificates and reminders for expirations
o Review audits, follow up on discrepancies, ensure corrective actions are submitted
o Consult all entities on qualifications and procedures
o Look for opportunities for continuous improvement, work with growers to adjust practices/programs for improvement
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS

§ Excellent communication and verbal skills
§ Proficient computer skills (i.e., Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
§ Ability to maintain strong relationships with all departments

§ Ability to analyze data timely, efficiently, effectively, and multitask projects/assignments
§ Strong organizational skills and close attention to detail
§ Ability to deal with changing objectives, deadlines, and priorities beyond one’s control as needed
§ Ability to remain calm and unemotional in stressful situations
§ Ability and willingness to stand, walk, use hands and fingers, stoop, kneel, crouch, smell, etc., as needed to perform essential tasks
§ Ability to communicate, both oral and written, in English and Spanish (a plus), but not a requirement
§ Additional Qualifications (Not required but a plus)
- Bachelor’s degree in food science or related discipline and a minimum of 3 years of prior work experience in Quality Assurance/Food Safety
- FSMA familiar, especially on the Produce Safety Rule
- HACCP and GAP experience
- Produce background
- Experience with food safety certifications (BRC, Organic, etc.) and USDA/FDA regulations
WORKING CONDITIONS & DEMANDS
§ Mitigating issues and conflicts with employees/contractors
§ Outdoor work in orchards
§ Standing, bending, kneeling, and crouching for prolonged periods of time
§ Driving to ranches throughout Southern and Central CA
§ Working in cold conditions from 32°F to 50°F and hot conditions
§ Work with and around conveyors and other moving equipment
§ Work at heights
§ Able to lift 25 to 48 pounds to a minimum height of 36 inches
§ Operating heavy machinery
§ Traversing hills and orchard environments
§ Traveling for a few days to one week at a time (as needed)
Salary Range: $69,264 - $98,384
