JOB SUMMARY

The Counsel reports to the General Counsel and provides general legal support to our rapidly expanding US and International commercial operations. The primary role of the Counsel is to serve as a strategic legal partner to the organization and to support the diverse legal needs of the company, including in the areas of litigation, regulatory and compliance, employment law, and international legal matters. Successful candidates will possess a wide range of legal skills.  The ideal candidate will enjoy being a problem solver and generalist ready to work as part of a lean team in a mission-driven organization.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

§  Drive company-wide compliance with relevant laws and regulations.

§  Support Human Resources on employment related matters.

§  Assist with litigation, regulatory, and compliance matters for both U.S. and international jurisdictions.

§  Serve as primary liaison to international teams and work with international legal teams and local counsel to oversee legal matters.

§  Oversee and manage pre-litigation, disputes, and litigation matters.

§  Oversee privacy matters.

§  Perform legal research and prepare written legal analyses, as necessary.

§  Assist with transactional, corporate, and/or securities matters, and department administrative matters, as necessary.

§  Assist the General Counsel and legal department with other projects as needed.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS

§  US J.D. degree and a member of a state bar, 8+ years of relevant law firm and/or in-house experience.

§  Bilingual in Spanish is strongly preferred.

§  Experience in litigation and employment law preferred.

§  Transactional experience a plus, but not necessary.

§  International experience preferred.

§  Ability to understand complex issues, assess risk and provide concise business-focused legal advice.

§  Strong organizational skills – highly responsive and able to prioritize and manage simultaneous projects with tight deadlines.

§  Excellent oral and written communication skills.

§  Attention to detail and ability to multi-task.

§  Ability to work independently while exercising good judgment on escalation to the General Counsel.

 

Range: $162k - $250k
