JOB SUMMARY
Responsible for the day-to-day activities of managing, directing, controlling, and coordinating all phases of the Maintenance department. Responsible for maximizing equipment productivity and uptime and developing and implementing a proactive national process and overseeing its organization, scheduling, and implementation.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Standardize maintenance operations nationally. Identify opportunities for standardization of processes, procedures, and/or equipment.
- Manage plant level capital projects in conjunction with Project Managers.
- Plan, organize, and direct activities concerned with the maintenance of heavy industrial equipment, machines, structures, facilities, and systems.
- Inspect and review maintenance activities to monitor compliance with all safety and environmental codes, regulations, permits, and company policies.
- Authorize requisitions for supplies and materials to complete maintenance projects.
- Prepare, submit, and manage department budget.
- Take actions to deal with the results of unplanned downtime, bad weather, or emergencies.
- Investigate damage, accidents, or unplanned downtime to ensure that proper procedures are being carried out.
- Make decisions and solve complex problems that significantly impact the business.
- Plan and organize work of department to minimize unplanned downtime of production equipment, machinery, facilities, and systems.
- Confer with vendors or suppliers to obtain materials or services in accordance with appropriate company policies.
- Estimate materials or labor requirements for capital or maintenance projects.
- Estimate time or cost for installation or repair for capital or maintenance projects.
- Address performance and behavior issues promptly and tactfully.
- Explore new ways to improve department performance.
- Assess, develop, implement, and evaluate the on-going schedule of all preventive maintenance programs nationwide.
- Develop and provide reports which document productivity, maintenance cost, work schedule status, and existing and future workload requirements.
- Manage head count and schedule for proper coverage while minimizing cost.
- Develop Maintenance Operating Procedures (MOP’s).
- Develop critical spare parts list. Oversee ordering and inventory of spare parts and maintenance supplies.
- Develop procedures for equipment check-out prior to start of shift to ensure equipment readiness.
- Utilize performance management, goal setting, and development plans to enhance personnel performance and contributions.
- Oversee safety inspections on all equipment to ensure maintenance personnel follow all safety rules and processes and act as safety role model for maintenance team and company.
- Oversee new equipment installation and all equipment upgrades.
- Continuously review the impact of change and adapt the process to achieve the end results.
- Perform other duties as requested.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field.
- Minimum of 10 years of related work experience and at least 3 years in a management and/or supervisory role.
- Excellent problem solving and trouble-shooting skills and work well within a team approach.
- Proven project and time management skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.
- Excellent ability to communicate on equipment issues and ensure the equipment with the facility is meeting requirements.
- Proven experience with preventive maintenance programs and the ability to build new maintenance programs from the ground up.
- Strong experience with SOP’s and standardizing work and processes.
- Experience installing new equipment and equipment upgrades.
- Strong mechanical, electrical, and programming skills.
- Strong Microsoft Office and PC Skills.
- Travel required.
- Maintain a valid driver’s license.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS
- Able to communicate in Spanish and English.
- Learn knowledge and experience.
- Process improvement background. Experience identifying or being part of teams focusing on continuous improvement and cost reduction.
- D365 skills a plus.

WORKING CONDITIONS
§ Ability to lift or move 25 pounds to 50 pounds depending on job category.
§ Ability and willingness to be occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, temperatures between 35 and 45 degrees.
§ Safely work near moving mechanical parts and equipment.
§ Ability and willingness to stand, walk, use hands and fingers, stoop, kneel, crouch, taste, smell, etc., as needed to perform essential tasks.
§ Regularly involves lifting, bending, or other physical exertion. Often exposed to one or more disagreeable environmental factors such as heat, cold, noise, dust, dirt, chemicals, etc., with one often to the point of being objectionable.
